The company consists of a staff of specialized technicians with significant experience in the management of various aspects of mining.
To date, the structure consists of experienced geologists in mining, structural geology and geo-mechanics and skilled quarry masters with many years of experience gained working in the quarries of various countries.
Sergio Matteoli – President
Mr Sergio Matteoli (B.S. and M.S.) is a Senior Geologist with more than 35 years of professional experience in exploration, geology, deposits modelling and mine planning, Resources and Reserves statement, projects evaluation, marketing, feasibility studies and processing of geo-resources (including dimension stones, metallic and industrial minerals). Mr. Sergio Matteoli is a Certified Professional Geologist by the Italian National Council of Geologists, Member of the European Federation of Geologists (member n° 1094) and Qualified Professional Member of MMSA -Mining & Metallurgical Society of America (member n° 01444QP); he meets all the requirements for “Competent Person” as defined in the 2012 Australasian Code for Reporting of Exploration results, Mineral resources and Ore Reserves (the JORC Code). Mr. Sergio Matteoli has over 25 years of mine operation and management experience working in Italy as well as abroad and he is also skilled in the practical utilization of the common quarrying equipment, he is also expert on the use of alternative tools for quarrying as well as in the management of waste.
Diego Furesi – CEO
He graduated at the University of Florence (Italy), where gained his Ph.D. in structural geology, studying the rock-mass response to the excavation and mining. During his academic activity, he studied the statistical distribution of fractures in sedimentary, metamorphic and volcanic rocks, and their relationship with the permeability of rock mass and water inflows in underground tunnels. Following these experiences he has published several scientific articles on both Italian and international journals. After his Ph.D. Mr. Diego Furesi has worked as an engineering geologist, focusing his activity on the geotechnical issues related to buildings and constructions and also on health and safety. In the recent years he was involved in many mining exploration projects as a freelance consultant in the dimension stone and mining sector. He worked in Central and West Anatolia, Menderes Massif and Eastern Taurides (Turkey), Tunisia and Perak (Malaysia), focusing on tectonics and geological reconstruction, in order to qualify and quantify and certificate the exploitable resource for quarries and mines. As a member of the European Federation of Geologists (EFG), Diego is a certificate Competent Person for public reporting of the exploration results. Since 2006 Mr. Diego Furesi collaborates with Geofield working in the field of ornamental stones, industrial minerals and mines.
Giuseppe Nirta – Board member
He is a Senior Geologist with a robust work experience around the world. With more than 16+ years of academic and mining consulting experience, he has a broad range of background, including planning and managing preliminary to advanced exploration projects, geological modeling, geotechnical analyses, resource estimation and resource reporting in compliance with international reporting standards. His commodity specific experience includes Dimension Stones, Building Materials in general and non-metallic deposits. In these years he has performed the role of exploration and resource geologist, including review and recommendations on different prospective projects for mine recovery improvement and possible acquisition and licensing. He has been involved with various due diligence projects and Independent Technical Reporting. Expert’s international experience includes projects in several countries of America, Africa, Europe and Middle East. He graduated with honors in geology and gained a PhD in Earth Sciences at the University of Florence. Since 2003 he took part as a researcher and post-doc fellow to several International Research projects focused on the tectonic and stratigraphic evolution of the Mediterranean orogenic systems. In this frame he is still performing field studies in Northern Apennines (Italy), Serbia, Albania, Greece and Turkey. He is continuously performing studies on geomechanics and structural geology focusing on their applications in improving mine production rates. The academic and mining consulting experience allow publishing several papers in international scientific journals. Documented as Competent Person being a member of the European Federation of Geologist (EFG), which is a ‘Recognized Professional Organization’ by the Joint Ore Reserves Committee (JORC).
Elisa Livi – Board member
Graduated with honours and Ph.D. in engineering geology at the University of Florence (Italy). From 2014 she is a certificate Competent Person (member of the EFG) for public reporting of the exploration results. Ms. Elisa Livi collaborated for many years with the University of Florence, where she was involved in projects of rehabilitation of abandoned mines and quarries for their conversion to the historical heritage. In her academic experience he became an expert in many areas of applied geology such as geomechanics, geotechnics, geo-structural data analysis and slope stability. Following these experiences she has published several scientific articles on both Italian and international journals. In her professional activity she has worked in a large number of engineering projects such as tunnels, roads, railways, quarries and mines. Since 2007 collaborates with Geofield working in the field of ornamental and industrial minerals.
